With house…you don’t have to conform your body in a certain way in order to make it look good—it looks good if you’re doing it with some love and some strength and some; you know, whatever you put into it is what we see out of it, if you’re clear.

Love house dance! Went to NYC for funkbox at the sullivan room and met Caleaf. Amazing. I learned some basics of house but never had the chance to get deep into it. I know I'm not asking you a "house dance" question, but just wanted to express my joy of finding a house dance blogger! Following!

You met CALEAF?!  That’s madd dope :).  His interview on the origins of the dance is one of my faves.  I’ve been to Sullivan Room once and I really liked the energy in there—a hundred dancers from all over the city just there to get down!  I hope you’re still house dancing ;)

Hey. How do you think, may there be a choreography (or improvisation) of one move? Like you would do only one move but in different ways (higher lower to the right/left etc.) ? Or you will need couple of moves for that? :)

Hey Anele, nice question—the AMAZING house dancer Conway once told me that he practices a move in every possible direction: forward, backwards, sideways, diagonally, every way!  This helps you practice your moves in creative ways and also lets you incorporate the moves no matter how you’re dancing.  So I think it’s good to be able to do house dance moves in different directions and at different speeds—to capture different feelings :)

Seems like the trick to Dolphin Dives is adding a little “kick” near the end, towards your back, to create an almost jacking-like momentum through your body before transitioning to another House movement.

The Floor dance night swings into action in Hollywood

Here is a vision all cities should aspire to bring to life: dancers of all walks under one roof, dancing to one beat, on a single dance floor.

The Floor

Gathering a diversity of styles was a primary motivation of the night’s creators, Carolina Cerisola and Sascha Escandon, professional dancers who met in the salsa scene. When they started the Floor in 2008, they saw a need for a place where people from different corners of the dance community, who seldom cross paths, could come together.
